What is a used Sony WH-1000XM4 worth in 2026?
Prices checked 7 October 2026 on Kleinanzeigen, eBay.de and Back Market (backmarket.de). Figures are asking prices — what sellers list at, not what every item finally sells for. Prices move, so treat this as a snapshot of a normal week, not a promise.
The WH-1000XM4 is still the most-traded used headphone in Germany: owners upgrade to the XM5 or XM6 and sell, buyers who want noise cancelling under €150 go looking for one. That two-sided traffic is why its price is worth knowing. What you should pay depends almost entirely on who you buy from.
What each channel charges
On Kleinanzeigen, private sellers asked roughly €100–150 in the first week of October. Private asks overstate what changes hands: assume 10–20% comes off in negotiation, so a realistic private buy is €90–120. That price comes with the usual private-sale risk — no returns, no invoice, and you only find out the battery and the noise cancelling work after you have met the seller.
On eBay.de, used XM4 listings from businesses and private sellers with feedback asked €130–160. On Back Market (backmarket.de), refurbished XM4s were listed at €229–250 in the same week — the refurbishers price for their overhead, which is why the gap to a private ad is so wide.
Why the price is about to move
One thing changed in early October: the used XM5 crashed to XM4 money — around €150–155 from private sellers. When the newer model costs barely more used, nobody pays top price for the older one for long. In practice that means the XM4’s resale value will slide over the coming months. If you want one, the value window is now; if you own one and plan to sell, the same logic applies in reverse.
What a fair price looks like
If a private seller wants €150, offering €90–100 is not a lowball — it is where these deals land after haggling. If you buy from a reseller that has checked the set, €130–160 is normal, and the €40 or so extra buys you tested noise cancelling on both ears, a verified battery, and a return right. A set with the original box and all accessories sits at the top of each range; a set with worn pads or no case sits well under it.
Before you pay anyone, check five things: both ear cups cancel noise, the battery holds a charge, the pads are not flaking, the case and cable are there, and the serial matches the listing.
